Serving dotNET, constructing brilliance

Microsoft MVP · 2023 – presentAuthor of “.NET骚操作”.NET Conf China speaker

Hi, I’m ZHOU Jie, better known as sdcb — short for “Serving dotNET, constructing brilliance”. I’ve been a Microsoft MVP every year since 2023, focused on C# and .NET.

I wrote my first blog post, about Direct2D, in 2013; the “.NET骚操作” blog and WeChat account followed. What I do boils down to one line:building the things people think .NET can’t do — in .NET. OCR, object detection, video, RAW photos, an LLM gateway, and now an inference engine written entirely in C#.

Libraries I maintain — PaddleSharp, OpenVINO.NET, Sdcb.FFmpeg and more — run in production at many companies; Sdcb Chats is my open-source LLM gateway. These days most of my time goes into SimdPaddleOCR, which drops native inference runtimes entirely — 2.0 ships with Vulkan / Metal GPU support.

Principles

How I build in the open

If it can be C#, it is C#

Inference engines, SIMD kernels, ONNX interpreters — “.NET can’t do that” usually means nobody has tried yet.

Measure, don’t guess

Every performance claim comes with a benchmark — in CI, across platforms, whenever possible.

Open and reproducible

Code, benchmarks, samples and the LINQPad scripts behind every post are public and runnable.

Explain it well

A release usually comes with a post that explains the why and the how.

    SimdPaddleOCR: inference in pure C#

No native inference runtime at all — hand-written SIMD kernels and a managed ONNX interpreter, 1.0 → 1.4 in a month; 2.0 landed in October with Vulkan / Metal GPU backends, 15× faster on an RTX 3080 Ti. HyMT2Sharp, a pure-C# translation LLM runtime, shipped in September and reached the GPU with 2.0 in October.
